its a micro fuckfest! got all the way to 100%, and then it said “download cannot be completed”, and when i try to redownload it, it is stuck at 49%.
wow, after getting to 100% in about ten minutes (25 megabit connection) it stuck at 49% indefinitely. i reset the box, and now i am stuck at 43%. blow me microfuck.
my buddy has also just had his download STOPPED at 61%. well, you pay your money, you takes your chances… there is only ONE thing i am sure of… NO FUCKING REFUNDS. boy do i feel better. OH, just got the “your download cannot be completed” message again. it is an ass suck, so all you workers out there can relax and enjoy the fact that you don’t have to be pissed, yet.

indeed. with only a few smokables consumed, the download finished, and these are some awe inpiring maps. i am loving all of them. they outshine the old maps in every way. although, in about ten games, killhouse has yet to come up in the team deathmatch rotation, so i can’t comment on that one. chinatown is incredible. the creek is incredible, and even the tv station is a big phat sprawling wonderland of bullets and bloodshed. and along with the maps came an update, and i have to say, from the games i played, lag has decreased, and the quality of the games was very high. enjoy everybody! see you on the old battlefield!
Excellent maps, but im pissed off. You cant play them in ranked hardcore search and destroy or hardcore team deathmatch. And you have to play only the new maps or without the maps you cant mix old with the new.
Unless the change the playlists im not going to play them again.

There will be boosters in any online game with a ranking system. Not including achievements, however, will keep a large amount of these kinds of people from playing and boosting just to get them. So, in this case, “all the boosters and GS whores” would be the large amount of people that wouldn’t play otherwise. So, indeed, not including achievements helps the online play quite a bit.

The reason to play COD4 over Rainbow Six online is the complete lack of a party system in R6. If you have enough people on your friends list to play player matches with over and over, that’s good. However, the majority don’t, and so being booted from a two minute ranked game after ten minutes of waiting is a huge annoyance. The achievements are nice, but I don’t think they’re worth it when it takes forever to even find a game in the first place.

Clan matches don’t interest me. You can invite friends in Ranked matches in Rainbow Six 2 which really bugs me as you shouldn’t be able to do that and now some of the Ranked matches become like Clan matches which is just wrong. Don’t like online games using party systems to connect. I prefer freedom of choice when it comes to choosing who and what I play. Guess it’s not possible to keep everyone happy, eh?
Ah, guess not. I’d just prefer to play ranked with people I know would have my back, I guess. For me, extra security = greater risks = greater glory. :D
Agreed. There are still plenty of boosters in COD4. You’re never going to get round that issue by removing achievements. The kind of achievements I’m looking for from COD4 is ones that reward longevity of game play something similar to the ranking system in Rainbow Six Vegas. Why should I play COD4 online, which is a heap of fun, most of the time, when I can play Rainbow Six Vegas 2 which is equally as much fun for me (and possibly more), but has achievements that reward my loyalty in terms of contribution to the online experience of the game. Specifically, 100 kills with each weapon type and eventually leading up to Elite. I’m not interesting in boosting, but I do want some achievements to reward that level of commitment to a game. RS:V give me that, COD4 doesn’t so I’m afraid, it’s a no-brainer for me what I’m going to devote my time to. There are assholes/boosters/glitchers/fun spoilers on Live in every game. Might as well get some legit rewards for myself in the process. That’s just my view for what it’s worth.

you know cod4 has one of the best weapon upgrade systems in the business, and it is based on experience. you are rewarded with an intense aresenal of goodies, which, i personally, would prefer 100 to 1 over achievement points. not to dis vegas, but cod4 certainly has its rewards to offer for the faithful. though it doesn’t take long to have everything, i wish they offered one or two perks up the prestige ladder to make it a little more enticing to prestige up. as it stands, i can’t get myself to give up my barret and my clay for some aesthetic sensibilities.
Good point. However, Rainbow Six has the exact same kind of weapon unlocks and character unlocks AND has achievements to reward players for longevity of game play in the online experience. No matter what way you try to phrase it, if I put two great games like COD4 and Rainbow Six Vegas 2 on the floor in front of me, both with roughly similar levels of enjoyment to be had in terms of online play BUT one has achievements for playing online and one doesn’t then I’m sorry, but it really is a no-brainer what I’m going to play. Not everyone may agree with this approach. All I’m saying is if COD4 had similar online achievements to Vegas, I would devote the time to the game because it is enjoyable and I can get some score from it. If that makes me a GamerScore whore, then so be it.

can i make a recommendation, rent tmnt or king kong, get 2000 gp in a few hours, and then play cod4 for awhile. you get the points, and you get to play a very worthwhile new game. i really do not understand the infatuation with gp, but to let it interfere with the enjoyability of a VERY GOOD GAME, seems silly to me. although vegas is excellent too, but if you got both, they both have something to offer. maybe when you have tapped out the vegas achievements? anyway, enjoy yourself.
Once I’ve completed all of Vegas, I’ll likely be getting into the Greatest of Them All. Check out the capitalised letters to see what I’m saying. Nothing else will be getting played after that comes out. Maybe some time, when they stop releasing great games (with achievements). Happy gaming!

Another thing worth mentioning is the wealth of great games that have come out for the 360. I have to pick and choose what games I’m going to prioritise on playing. Whore that I am, achievements assist in that decision. ;-)
it sounds fucking stupid, but i too am finding the avalanche of quality games burying me. i am actually falling behind. speaking of which, since there has been absolutely NOTHING on xboxic about it, has anybody played dark sector? sleep hit of the fucking year. everyone says it lacks innovation, because it snags mechanics from a lot of good games, but the glaive is the most innovative weapon i have used in quite awhile, and it makes the game. that and a pretty intriguing storyline. check it out if you can.
and to all you gp whores out there (mano), i rented lost the other day, and it clocks in at about 10 gp a minute. the game is ass on a stick, but if you are a fan of the show, or have some patience, dig it up.
I haven’t even finished fucking Bioshock, and that came out in August. This is what uni has done to my gaming. Like, I seriously looked forward to winter break because all I wanted to do was -finish- all the games I haven’t, and be done with all those achievements in Halo 3 and whatever. Then, of course, my Xbox broke halfway through. I must’ve done something, because Karma don’t like me.
Rant aside, I just saw the commercial for Dark Sector last night and literally said “Wow, it’s out?” Unfortunately, the Blockbuster down the street from my dorm just closed (and let me buy up some Xbox games for $5, har har), so now I’ll have to resort to a game trading site, or some such.
Fuck money, this summer will be nothing but Xbox, girlfriend, and guitar. I haven’t decided the priority these things will take yet. :D
Yeah, I’ve got Dark Sector which I think is awesome. Don’t know why they kept this one so quiet on release. Okay, so it steals a lot of game mechanics/controls, etc from Gears of War and Rainbow, but who says that’s a bad thing. It’s a deeply enjoyable game experience. Get it guys, you won’t regret it!
Oh, and yes, I have Lost via Domus as well. This whore doesn’t miss a trick!
well, i guess this is as good a play as any to voice my grievances about the removal of the variety pack playlists. the maps have now been incorporated into the other playlists, and the community has been divided into the haves and the have nots.
the derision issue aside, i am pretty pissed about having paid ten dollars a few days ago for maps that i very rarely see in rotation, and (because i have hundreds and hundreds of hours on the old maps, and am pretty much sick as hell of them) i will probably very rarely play in the future. i love the new maps, and i was having so much fun over the first few days that i convinced several of my friends to get them. one of them never even got a chance to play the variety pack playlist, and had to sit through a half an hour of bullshit in order to play his first round on the new maps.
apparently, they are splitting people in the main lists up into those that have the maps, and those that don’t to facilitate it when a new map comes up. so, if people are already divided up, why not let those with the new maps play JUST the new maps? what is the harm in giving us the choice??? i can see how many were excited about the new maps being incorporated into the old list, even though it divides the community, but what does anyone lose by letting those that want to play the new damn maps, play the new damn maps!
and the first i saw of the removal of the variety map pack playlist, was the removal of the variety map pack playlist. why would they give it to just a few, for just a few days, and then take it away with no notice? unless i missed the notice, but i have been looking. bait and switch! bait and switch!
