CoD: WaW Beta inbound; release date set

Great news for anyone anticipating the next step in the Call of Duty series, as Activision has today announced that World at War will be releasing on the 11th November in the US. There will also be a Beta for the multiplayer side of things as there was for Call of Duty 4.

The Beta will begin in October for the Xbox 360 and PC versions, however it seems the PS3 version won’t have anything of the sort. There’s not much in the way of details just yet on how to get an invite into the Beta, with the press release only saying that a pre-order at Gamestop or registration to www.callofduty.com will nab you a place. Whether that’s everyone who signs up, or just a select view we cannot yet say.

Says Mark Lamia, Treyarch Studio Head:

“We are excited to share a sneak peak of Call of Duty: World at War multiplayer with the community. The team has worked hard to build upon the great history and foundation of Call of Duty multiplayer and we can’t wait to go online to ramp up for our November launch.”

Take that, Europeans

Europeans will likely be disheartened by the lack of details this side of the Atlantic, but rest assured Activision and Treyarch are unlikely to forget that this needs to be tested by more than just Americans. Stay tuned, we expect to learn more as September rolls on.

Maybe because it’s largest base is in America, or because all the production is done in America, or because AMERICA is what counts when it comes to sales?

Sorry, but America is the largest base of sales, so why WOULDN’T THEY GIVE IT TO AMERICA

So true.
And it’s the reason why games are so dumbed down these days.

Possibly because it’s a beta - and network code should always be tested with groups of people that are quite a distance apart for quality purposes.

I’ll try out the beta, but I’m not expecting much.
