Nintendo announces special coloured Wii straps for Japan
Considering how popular various straps are over in Japan amongst mobile phone owners, with business booming as consumers constantly change to new, cooler straps to keep up with the latest trends, it should come as no surprise that Nintendo has now jumped on the band-wagon to get itself a nice piece of the action, only it is not going down mobile phone route, but using Wii instead.
At a special retailer conference over in Japan, Nintendo showed off a few new products. First up was the Skip Ltd-developed Captain Rainbow for Wii will hit Japan as soon as 28th August, with the game from the makers of Chibi-robo and GiFTPiA on the GameCube hitting for 6,800Yen. Next was the news that Wii Music will be launching on 16th October for just 5,080Yen, along with Wi-Fi connectivity and being classed as part of the Touch! Generations series (news that was today confirmed by Nintendo after initial doubts emerged). Then there was news of Square Enix’s third Valkyrie Profile game, and the first for DS, ‘The Accused One’ hitting Nintendo DS on 2nd October for 5,040Yen and coming with an ‘Original Another Story’ booklet with illustrations and artwork by Kou and You Yoshinari for those that pre-order the game.
But the major point that caught the attention of people everywhere was the new Wii revelation from Nintendo. Many expected to hear news of coloured Wii consoles, but instead it was announced that as of this September Nintendo will be offering different coloured Wii Remote straps, coming in white, pink, blue and green, all for 300Yen each (~£1.40) or a bundle of all four for 1,000Yen (~£4.70).

I’m just going to import these from Japan. They’re cheap enough that I couldn’t care less if they’re ever sold in America. I mean if they were more expensive I may have been upset, but whatever.
