A recent flurry of news stories have cropped up across the Internet all thanks to a new listing over on the Australian video games ratings website, which put up a new rating page that stated Valve’s eagerly anticipated survival horror title was coming to the Nintendo DS as well as PC and Xbox 360. Seems it was nothing more than a mistake, though.
Left 4 Dead is set to hit both PC and Xbox 360 in Europe during November 2008 and is a highly anticipated co-operative first-person survival horror shooter from Valve, the development team behind the likes of Half-Life, Counter-Strike and Portal. Despite there being no previous announcements from either Valve itself or publisher Electronic Arts, the Office of Film and Literature Classifications seemed to have some insider knowledge and listed the game for DS anyway.
Could you honestly imagine this being squeezed onto the lowly Nintendo DS?
However, Kotaku contacted Doug Lombardi of Valve to get some clarification on the matter, and all he could say in relation to the news is that it was complete and utter nonsense.
What do you make of the situation, though? Could a team like n-Space be working on a DS version on behalf of EA and Valve is just trying to throw us off the scent, or was it merely a typographical error on the part of the OFLC? Share your thoughts by posting below…
