Level-5, the developer behind the likes of White Knight Story, Professor Layton and Inazuma Eleven, has revealed that it will be making some shocking announcements in Japan very soon. But what could be in store from the Japanese developer?
The latest issue of Famitsu magazine had news of Level-5’s upcoming annual conference ‘Level 5 Vision’, where the developer behind games such as Square Enix’s Dragon Quest IX: Protectors of the Starry Sky on Nintendo DS and White Knight Story on PlayStation 3 will announce various new games it will self-publish. The conference will take place on 26th September and the company has been quoted as saying “A game revolution is beginning […] Wait for shocking announcements from Level-5!” as its main slogan on the advertisement page.
Which console could be getting the home version of Inazuma Eleven?
Last year’s event focused on on titles the developer was self-publishing over the coming year, Professor Layton and Pandora’s Box and Inazuma Eleven, both on DS, which means that the likes of Sony-published White Knight Story and Square Enix’s Dragon Quest IX will likely not be present. However, the third Professor Layton ‘The Last Time Travel’ and the console version of Inazuma Eleven will indeed be prominently placed at the show, and possibly even an entirely new Intellectual Property. But what could the shock be? The rift that formed between Level-5 and Microsoft regarding the True Fantasy Online game probably rules out heavy Xbox 360 support, but could the developer really take the risk of heavily backing the PlayStation 3 in Japan with its lacklustre sales? Then again, Third Party sales on Wii in Japan are hardly massively healthy either, so it will definitely be intriguing to see what happens.
